Any chance you have ZoneAlarm on there and have installed the lastest Microsoft "malicious software" patch which came out in the last couple of days (perhaps automatically?) that would do it ....

Actually "speak friend and enter" with no punctuation in the runic form. Read initially as "speak, friend, and enter" but the commas should have been quotes...

Heh. Unfortunately, I tried to install the ZA update and it locked up, then left itself in a state where it wouldn't uninstall (disappeared from the Add/Remove Programs, but still left loads of bits lying around) or install again either. So I've deleted all the bits I could find, and all the registry entries of either ?Zone Alarm or Zone Labs, and installed Comodo instead...
